We’re currently in what I like to call the chameleon era of celebrity hair. Between wigs and bleach and willing scissors-wielding stylists, stars from all walks of entertainment have changed their looks so much that it can be difficult to keep up. But while famous people like Megan Thee Stallion and Florence Pugh keep us on our toes, there are still a handful of celebs who are sticking to one thing that works for them, like Jennifer Lopez and her golden highlights.
But wait – what is this? Has Jennifer Lopez just strayed from her usual warm blondeness?
Lopez posted a carousel of photos to her Instagram grid on Monday, May 9, of herself posing for several mirror selfies. “It’s Monday 🤍 #LetsGetIt,” she wrote in the caption, completely ignoring the fact that her hair looks significantly darker than usual. The center-parted, layered style appears to be a medium brunette shade that’s closer to her natural color.
In the photos below, we can see that Lopez’s hair is definitely still highlighted, although not in the way it usually is. Instead of the warm, golden blonde we’re used to seeing from superstar, she sports a much cooler color. It’s unclear if hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons, who styled her hair for a JLo beauty shoot, also colored it for the occasion, but bravo nonetheless.

I realize that this change isn’t really as big as dying your hair green, for example, but when you’ve got a signature look that’s literally lasted decades, any noticeable color shift is a pretty big deal. Could this be the start of Lopez’s very own chameleon era? Regardless of how she keeps changing things up, don’t let the locks she’s been given fool you — she’s still (she’s still) Jenny from the block.
