I am a girl who loves beauty and getting my nails done in a salon is always a very special treat, especially in the summer months – mMainly because I love dark nail colors and I’m usually embarrassed to be the only girl in the nail salon asking for black in July. But hey, to each his own, right?
I like to save my mani money for the fall and winter and get my natural nails done in the summer since I’ve given up painting my nails at home. Bright summer colors look great on dark skin, but nothing beats rich blues, deep greens and a flesh-toned nude on my tan skin. Choosing the right polish can be tricky, especially with all the new launches that are popping up each season, but I’m going to share some of my favorites with you all in hopes that you’ll fall in love with a new shade you never would thought of trying it.
Here are a few nail colors brown beauties should try this fall:

Pear Nova
Contents
Michelle our mom (nude)
There was a time when the term “nude” didn’t include dark skin, but thanks to black women making room for women in the fashion and beauty industries, we have nude underwear, lip color, shoes and nail polish that really suits us Palette of skin tones. Pear Nova’s creamy Oak 5-free polish pairs beautifully with tan skin.

Rusty worthy
When I saw this polish I gasped. It was so pretty and I knew it would look great on a range of dark skin tones. Rust Worthy gives you fall vibes with a touch of glam.

Oribe
Deep teal
Dark green will be a big part of this fall and Oribe’s deep teal is so rich and dark it could be mistaken for black depending on the lighting – which I love.

Blacksmith & Cult
The message
A classic red nail polish is a good idea any time of year, but Smith & Cult created a nail color that reminds me of a candied apple sprinkled with 14k gold. Pair this shade with gold stackable rings or an eye-catching accessory and you probably won’t stop looking at your candied nails.

Mischo beauty
#NYFW
The name of this midnight blue 10-free polish says it all. I can imagine a lot of beauty editors wearing this chic color when they front row at fashion week.

OPI
Things I saw in Aber-Green
Green is all the rage this season, but OPI’s ‘Aber-Green’ isn’t jewel-toned like Oribe’s polish – the moss-green hue suits dark skin just as well.

Butter London
Ta Ta! nail polish
White nail polish is a summer staple, and I think it’s a color you can carry into fall. However, if you are looking for a lighter shade with more color, a soft gray is an option.

Ella + Mila
champagne pop
Gold is one of my favorite colors to accessorize because it brings out the golden undertones of my tan skin, and this champagne-inspired nail polish from Ella + Mila is no different. Although this is rose gold, you get the same pop of color with a spin on a classic.

Deborah Lippman
12th Street Rag
Just because we’re moving into a time of cooler temperatures and a darker wardrobe doesn’t mean pink is taboo. I think it’s up to you, so if you want to keep rocking that neon pink then go for it. If you want an option that has a deeper shade without losing the pop of color, try this magenta metallic color and pair it with a bright pink lip.

tenoverts
Church
Have you ever seen a wine colored lipstick on deep brown skin? If so, you know it’s a showstopper. I could imagine this deep wine colored nail polish would have the same effect on a fresh manicure.

Christian Louboutin
charcoal
I couldn’t make this list without a touch of real black polish. Once you’ve mastered your mani at home, treating yourself to a luxury polish from the legendary house of red shoes doesn’t make a bad gift, for all the coins you’ll save from not visiting the salon every pair of weeks.
